As adults, our lives are often defined by routine. We get up, take a shower, brush our teeth, have breakfast, and go to work. Most of us never really stop to think: are we even doing the right things? We all think we know how to manage our lives until something comes along and shows us the folly of our ways. Here are 9 things you do every day that you may not have realized you were doing wrong.

1. Using too much soap in the shower

As we age, our skin dries out and soap, which is an astringent, only dries it out more. Try to use only as much soap as you need, and only on necessary areas such as skin folds. The soapy water running down your body will be enough to get clean.

2. Working without planning rest breaks

During work hours, we enter "zones" of productivity - a few hours of the day that we're at the top of our game. The problem is that most people don't plan their breaks accordingly. If you're motivated and focused 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., it's probably not a great idea to take a long lunch break at noon, right in the middle of your peak hours. A little planning goes a long way.

3. Answering WhatsApp messages from your boss

Bright Side

Setting boundaries between your private and professional life is important. You don't want your work issues ruining your quality time with loved ones, or issues at home affecting your performance at work.

Using instant messaging apps like WhatsApp isn't a great idea, because it lets your boss contact you at all hours, and even lets them see if you read their messages and just ignored them.

4. Adding oil to pasta water

Adding oil to pasta creates an oily coating that prevents the sauce from sticking to the pasta. In order to cook perfect pasta that doesn't stick, you need to use the right amount of water - one liter per 100 grams of dry pasta and 1.5 liters for 100 grams of fresh pasta.
